A letter from the Tennessee Women Project:
Dear AAUW Tennessee Members,
Your generous support made it possible for us to publish Tennessee Women of Vision and Courage in 2013. Now we’re asking for your help in publishing the play, Tennessee Women for the Vote, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
This is an opportunity for you to have a part in this Centennial celebration. The one-act play, written by Ayne Cantrell and revised for the Centennial, depicts a suffrage rally in Nashville in 1920. Copies of the play and the book will be promoted and sold, providing funds to continue scholarships for Tennessee women to attend the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders.
We anticipate that several performances of the play will be given across the state during 2020, the Centennial year. This drama will impress women and girls in learning about the long struggle by our foremothers in winning the right to vote. Now it is our privilege and our responsibility to vote!
