Good day and hello! On July 1, 2020 I was installed as the president of AAUW for the state of Tennessee. I am thrilled and excited to serve in this roll for the time that is available to me and to work with all of you in advancing equity for girls and women across this state and nation.
To be sure, the current circumstances of 2020 were not anticipated (or desired) as part of my year as president, but months ago I decided I would embrace the change and do what I can. Times of great upheaval provide us with opportunities to grow. The universe is shoving us hard into a course correction.
We’re facing tough challenges – a global pandemic exacerbating already existing inequities, a reckoning with our deeply systemic systems of oppression and violence against people of color, attacks on women from all sides, attacks on our democracy and democratic processes from multiple directions.
During my time I will work with our state chairs to increase exposure and membership for AAUW as much as we can and challenge each of our branches to think outside the box at every level of our organization to do the same! More details to come!
I look forward to this opportunity and am open to having conversations with anyone interested in reaching out.
