Welcome to the AAUW Tennessee Public Policy Page!

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the AAUW Tennessee Public Policy Page! We’re thrilled to have you here as part of our mission to create a more equitable Tennessee for women and girls. Our Public Policy team work to support AAUW National’s priorities and to champion meaningful change at the state level. We believe in the power of advocacy, education, and collaboration to shape a better future.

Here’s how we’re making a difference:

  • Supporting AAUW National Priorities
We align with national efforts to advance economic security, education, and leadership opportunities for women and girls.
  • Driving Signature Legislation
Our flagship initiative is the “Eliminate the Salary History Question” bill, which seeks to remove salary history inquiries from Tennessee job applications. This legislation is vital to achieving pay equity and ensuring fair compensation practices.
  • Advocacy and Collaboration
We influence the decision-making process through advocacy, educational campaigns, and partnerships with legislators, members, and like-minded organizations across the state.
  • Engaging with Leaders and Communities
By building relationships with local legislators and engaging our members, we amplify our collective voice to level the playing field for women and girls in Tennessee.

Together, we can make a significant impact. Whether you’re here to learn, advocate, or take action, we welcome your involvement. Explore our page, stay informed, and join us in the fight for equity.

In solidarity,
Lee Anne Carmack
